Empowering Change and Unlocking Potential Using Motivational Interviewing
Are you struggling to help your employees or clients overcome resistance and ambivalence towards change?
Are you looking for more effective strategies to enhance their motivation and commitment to reach their goals?
Do you want to empower your employees or clients to take control of their lives and reach their full potential?
If yes, this course is for you!
THIS COURSE IS ELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING AND IS SFC-ELIGIBLE
You may have heard your loved ones or clients say “I know I need to change la, because… but then…”. Sometimes they may even seem to be stuck in their problems, repeating the same old “excuses” and “buts” despite you having already told them the solution.
Ironically, the more we try to persuade or confront someone, the more resistance happens. It’s like fighting a wrestling match that ultimately leaves both parties feeling tired, hurt and frustrated.
So, how do we effectively facilitate change within someone and empower them to take positive action without entering into a deadlock? How do we navigate this constant “flip-flopping” between changing versus sustaining their behaviours?
Here’s where Motivational Interviewing (MI) comes in. The MI approach teaches you how to explore and strengthen a person’s own reasons for change, while also demonstrating an appreciation of the challenges they face. It is a collaborative conversation style, much like a dance rather than a wrestling match. By adopting the MI approach, you can build supportive relationships with your loved ones/clients and evoke their intrinsic motivations for long lasting change.
Here's what you'll achieve by going through this immersive self-discovery programme

Apply practical skills to tip the conversations towards change without increasing resistance
Unleash your leadership capabilities by becoming the motivator in conversations
What's Included in the Programme?
Become the Guru of Motivation
Before we can draw out someone’s own motivation for change, we first need to understand what and why someone may be resistant to change. Acquire the listening skills to decipher someone’s readiness for change, and learn to build empathy, trust and rapport, the foundation for change later on.
Mastery of Motivating Conversations
Navigate conversations and guide someone to talk more about his or her own reasons for change. Acquire mastery over managing change and sustain talks in conversations. Probe using powerful questions and be crystal sharp in what you choose to reflect. Become the conversational mirror to allow the other party to hear and listen to their own motivations for change.
Unleashing Potential: A Motivational Interviewing Journey
Whether you are a leader, a supervisor, manager or just a colleague, apply the art of motivational interviewing in all conversations to drive change behaviours. Acquire crystal clear understanding of what is happening in conversations, and feel fully confident in guiding and moving conversations towards positivity, hope and constructive actions.
